WI Walk April 18th 2009
Cotswold Water Park

Janet, Sue, Sylvie, Anthea and Chris had a lovely 2 hour walk of 3 miles around The Cotswold Water Park.
We started at the Gateway centre and walked along the tow path towards Cerney Wick and the canal roundhouse. On our way we saw plenty of spring colour in the May blossom, daffodils, cowslips, red primulas, king cups and aconites. We also saw a heron in flight and in the stream looking for a tasty morsel.
We carried on past the Crown Inn at Cerney Wick and across the fields until we came to Cotswold sailing club lake. On our way we saw miniature ponies grazing, plenty of birds including a wren, robin and long tailed tit.
We were very fortunate to have good weather, although at times the paths were a little muddy.
After we walked along the old railway line for a while, where we spotted a deer in the distance and Canada geese, we continued our journey by the lake until we came back to the Gateway centre.
We all had a very enjoyable walk, followed by refreshments in the Coot Cafe.
