1990 - In a secluded area near Church
Path (see map) we installed a wood bench,
celebrating the 75th anniversary of the W.I. movement in Great Britain.
1997 - a Holm oak tree was added to
commemorate 100 years since the formation of the first W.I. in Canada.
2002 - To mark the Queen's Golden
Jubilee we were given permission by Purton Royal British Legion to plant two
emerald 'n gold variegated Euonymus shrubs in the garden surrounding the Purton War
Memorial situated in the High Street. The garden is beautifully maintained by
volunteers from the village.
